Experience that goes back to the beginning.
We started building mobile applications before the iPhone existed. Since then, we’ve worked across every generation of mobile technology, from early mobile banking and m-commerce applications to modern iOS, Android and cross-platform products.
Today, we build mobile applications as part of complete digital products, considering the product behind the app too.

iOS, mobile web and API development followed by expansion across multiple platforms.
More than just an app.
A mobile application is often just the part of the product your customer sees. Behind it could be APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, payments, authentication, admin platforms, CRM, ERP, AI and analytics.
We can build those too. Because sometimes you don’t need an app developer, you need someone who can build the whole product.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Mobile App Development FAQs
Thinking about developing a mobile app? Here are some of the questions we're most often asked about cost, technology, timescales and the development process.
How much does it cost to develop a mobile app in the UK?+
There isn't a single price for mobile app development. A relatively focused application connected to an existing API is very different from building a complete platform involving mobile apps, backend infrastructure, administration systems, payments and third-party integrations.
As a guide, Rounded Labs' bespoke mobile and software development projects typically start around £30,000, with larger platforms often ranging from £50,000 to £250,000+, depending on scope and complexity.
The most useful way to estimate your project is to understand what the app needs to do, who will use it, which platforms are required, what systems it needs to connect to and how complex the underlying technology needs to be.
How long does it take to develop a mobile app? +
A focused application can potentially be developed within a few months, while larger platforms may require six months or longer.
The timeline depends on the number and complexity of features, the platforms required, backend development, integrations, design, testing and the level of refinement needed before launch.
We establish a delivery plan once we understand what you're trying to build.
Do you develop both iOS and Android apps? +
Yes. Rounded Labs develops applications for both iOS and Android, using native technologies as well as cross-platform frameworks such as Flutter.
We can build a single-platform application or develop both platforms as part of the same product.
The right approach depends on your users, requirements, budget and long-term plans.
Should I build a native app or use Flutter? +
There isn't a universal answer.
Native development can be the right choice when an application needs deep platform integration, specialised performance or platform-specific functionality.
Flutter can be an excellent option when you want high-quality iOS and Android applications while sharing much of the underlying codebase.
We'll recommend the approach that makes sense for your product rather than simply using the technology that's most convenient for us.
Can you build the backend as well as the mobile app? +
Yes. A mobile application is often only one part of a much larger product.
Rounded Labs can develop the mobile application, backend APIs, databases, authentication, administration systems, web applications, cloud infrastructure and third-party integrations required to support it.
This full-stack capability is particularly useful when the mobile app needs to connect to complex business systems or when you're building an entirely new digital product.
Can you take over an existing mobile app? +
Yes. Not every project starts from scratch.
We can take over existing mobile applications where development has stalled, the architecture needs improving, performance has become a problem or the original development team can no longer deliver.
We'll review the existing application and codebase, identify the key issues and recommend whether it should be improved, restructured or rebuilt.
Do you develop Flutter apps? +
Yes. Flutter is one of the technologies we use for cross-platform mobile development.
It can be particularly useful when a business wants high-quality iOS and Android applications while sharing much of the underlying codebase.
We'll assess whether Flutter is appropriate for your project rather than assuming every application should use it.
Do you work with startups and new product ideas? +
Yes. You don't need to arrive with a complete technical specification.
If you have an idea, we can help you understand what needs to be built, which technology makes sense and what the likely scope and investment could look like.
For early-stage products, we'll also help distinguish between what is essential for the first release and what can be developed later.
The objective is to build the right product — not simply the biggest one.
Can you help design the app as well as develop it? +
Yes. We can work from an existing design or help take the product from early concepts through UX, user journeys, wireframes and polished interfaces before development begins.
This allows design and technical decisions to be considered together rather than treating them as completely separate stages.
Do you handle App Store and Google Play launch? +
Yes. We can help prepare, test and release applications through Apple's App Store and Google Play.
The launch process is considered as part of the wider development lifecycle rather than something left until the very end.
Who owns the source code? +
For bespoke client development, ownership and licensing are clearly defined in the development agreement before work begins.
Our normal approach is for clients to own the bespoke deliverables developed specifically for their project, while Rounded Labs retains ownership of any pre-existing background technology.
We believe these details should be clear before development starts.
What happens after the app launches? +
Launching an app isn't necessarily the end of development.
Operating systems change, third-party APIs evolve, security issues need attention and users will inevitably request new features.
We can continue maintaining, monitoring and developing your application after launch, including technical updates, improvements and new functionality.
Can you build an app that connects to our existing systems? +
Yes. Mobile applications often need to connect to existing websites, databases, CRM systems, e-commerce platforms, payment providers or internal business software.
We can develop the APIs and integrations required to connect the mobile experience with the systems your business already relies on.
Do you work with enterprise businesses? +
Yes. Our experience spans startups, growing businesses and established organisations, including mobile products and backend systems operating at significant scale.
We can work with existing enterprise infrastructure, APIs and business processes or help architect a new platform from the ground up.
Do you develop apps for specific industries? +
Yes. We've worked across areas including financial services, retail and e-commerce, SaaS, workforce management and enterprise software.
The technology is adapted to the requirements of the business rather than forcing every project into the same model.
What do you need from us before starting? +
You don't need a perfect specification.
It helps if you can explain:
- The problem — What are you trying to solve?
- The users — Who will use the application?
- The core workflow — What should users be able to accomplish?
- The platforms — Do you need iOS, Android, web or multiple platforms?
- Existing technology — What systems does the app need to connect to?
- The timeline — Is there a particular launch date?
- The budget — What level of investment is realistic?
From there, we can help turn the idea into a clearer product scope and development plan.
Can you help if we don't know exactly what we need? +
Absolutely. In fact, that's often where the first conversation is most useful.
You don't need to know whether you need native development, Flutter, a particular backend architecture or a specific API.
Tell us what you're trying to achieve. We'll help you work through the product, technology, scope and likely investment before you commit to development.
Your business already has a workflow.
We can turn it into a digital product. Whether you’re starting something new, replacing an outdated system or turning an internal process into a customer-facing platform, let’s talk.
