At a time when mobile banking was unheard of—and even before the launch of the iPhone—Dominic Keen, then an executive at Egg Plc, had a visionary idea: to bring banking to consumers’ mobile phones. Acting on that vision, we partnered with Dominic and his newly co-founded venture, MoBank Ltd, to design and build a pioneering prototype for Java-based mobile devices.
Our work involved architecting a secure, scalable backend system with advanced functionality including encrypted login, transaction processing, and communication protocols. Beyond core banking features, we developed a platform that integrated with third-party commerce providers, enabling users to browse and purchase products such as books, flowers, cinema tickets, and flights—all from within the app.
With the launch of the iPhone App Store, we transitioned MoBank into our first native iOS app—marking the beginning of our journey into mobile app development and helping to lay the foundations for what would become everyday mobile banking.
We partnered with Microsoft ahead of the Windows Phone 7 launch, working under an extremely tight deadline to successfully port the MoBank app to their new platform—showcasing its capabilities and ensuring day-one availability.
We served as MoBank’s (later Mopowered) primary development partner from their early startup days all the way through to their IPO on the AIM market in 2013. It was a true partnership, and we’re proud to have played a key role in their growth and success.
