2007 — Rounded Labs Founded
Ansar Mehmood and Zahid Younis establish Rounded Labs in the famous Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, UK.
2007 — James Bond Collaboration
Our first project: Creating a set of games for Sony as part of the launch of their brand partnership with the James Bond movie launch. Crazy.
2008 — Pioneering Mobile Banking
Developed the UK’s 1st mobile banking app for MoBank. Created supporting backend technology and architecture. Proper old skool Nokia, Symbian.
2009 — Early Mobile Commerce
Developed pioneering mobile commerce applications for GAME and Gamestation releasing them as the first m-commerce apps on the UK App Store.
2009 onwards — Major UK Retailers
Worked on mobile applications and supporting platforms for major British retailers including Next, HMV, Waterstones, SuperDry and many others. We had no idea the iPhone would change mobile forever.
2009 — Cross border team expansion
Rapid growth of the team in the UK and our remote team in Islamabad.
2009 — Early access under NDA
Privileged to have been given pre-launch access to both Palm Pre and Microsoft Windows Phone 7 to help develop apps launched on device. Palm Pre was awesome.
2013 — MoPowered UK IPO
MoBank rebrands as MoPowered. We were development partners in charge of all areas of development from startup until their IPO. Proud moment.
2017 — First hardware device developed
We rarely so no to an interesting project. But this was taking a hardware device from concept through to production.
2019 onwards — Enterprise Transformation
Helped modernise the technology strategy and business operations of German software powerhouse Cubeware GmbH, contributing to its transformation and eventual acquisition by insightsoftware.
2020 — Expansion to Malaysia
Opened our office in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Literally on the other side of the world but our favourite place (after Birmingham)
2023 — AI & Computer Vision
Delivered AI-based land classification technology using satellite imagery for the Bavarian government. Our first foray into custom model training.
Today — Mobile, Web, SaaS, AI & Enterprise
